I walked away from hospital medicine on a hunch. Our study just proved I was right 🩺
After years in hospitals, the pattern became impossible to ignore: by the time someone reaches the operating table, we've already failed them. The real tragedy wasn't the surgery—it was everything we missed before they got there.
So I left. I walked away from everything I'd trained for - to focus on prevention instead. Here are the results:
Our study using app-guided self-screenings including 5,085 employees across 51 companies showed:
🔴 86.8% of hypertension cases (≥130/80 mmHg) were undiagnosed
🔴 89.1% with diabetes-range glucose (≥126 mg/dL) were unaware
🔴 54.1% of all participants had ≥1 major cardiovascular risk factor
Key clinical findings:
📊 White-collar workers had higher undiagnosed HTN rates than blue-collar
📊 Women showed 2.6x higher burnout, 3x higher depression scores than men
📊 Strong inverse educational gradient across all conditions
📊 28% of blue-collar workers met ≥2 metabolic syndrome criteria
🎯 Outcomes:
💡 43% achieved >5 mmHg systolic BP reduction at follow-up
💡 Employees who engaged in our in-app intervention programs showed 57%
greater improvement
💡 Physician validation confirmed 39.5% of referrals got new diagnoses that
needed immediate medical attention -the rest was caught early enough to
attempt prevention.
I spent a decade managing end-stage diseases. Now we’re preventing them at population level. I couldn’t be prouder of what we accomplished Tatyana Eliseeva, CFA Carlos Lozano Sánchez Francesca Abalasei Noel Edo Serrano Lucía Gutiérrez-Visier López Axel Rieger Walter Sitnikow.
